Strategic Planning
Provides a company with goals and objectives and a road map to achieve them. Many companies will come up with a list of "SMART" goals. SMART stands for:
SpecificThe more specific each goal is, the easier it is to understand what is needed to reach it. Rather than, "To make money," try, "To reach $500,000 in sales by (a particular date)." |
MeasurableHave a means to track your progress. Without this, you will never know if you are doing well or failing. |
AttainableYour goals must produce significant results; just make sure they are realistic for you or your company to attain. |
RelevantAny goal must be important to the company or the individual. It must solve a problem. |
Time-boundThis is the target. Each goal you set must have a completion date. This ensures it will get done in a reasonable amount of time. |
